Eligibility Criteria for MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2027

General Eligibility

The candidate should be a citizen of the country that is maintaining good relations with Japan government.
Hence, Candidate with a Japanese nationality are not eligible to apply for this scholarship program.
The age of the applying candidates should have a birth of April 2, 2001
The candidate should have completed intermediate of (12^th) education based in a country outside of Japan.
The candidates should be able to qualify after passing an examination that confirms the completion of 12 years of education.
All candidates must be eager to learn and understand Japanese and willing to pursue studies in Japanese language.
The candidate should hold a medically fitness certificate duly signed by a qualified and licensed general physician.
Similarly, The candidate who get select must arrive in Japan in the dates between April 1–7, 2027 (as announced by MEXT)
Similarly The scholarship applicants should obtain a “Student” visa before their entrance into Japan. The entrance into Japan without Student Visa will result in the cancellation of further processing of the application. .

Not Eligible Applicants

The candidates with active who are having military background are not eligible.
The applying guy failing to reach Japan in the provided timeline.
The candiates that already availed a previously announced Japanese Government based (MEXT) Scholarship.
The students who are already enrolled in any institute located in Japan in a different status not as a student.
The applicants trying to avail another scholarship opportunity parallel.
Similarly, the students are trying to avail leaves for employment or studies outside of Japan.
Applicants who found guilty in any offensive activity or cheating during the written examination or any cheating attempt during the screening process.

Benefits-MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2027

Moreover, the candidates having Japanese language proficiency will be considered for directuniversity placement.
The selected candidates will receive a allowance of ¥117,000 (monthly) for coverage of living expenses.
There will be an additional regional monthly stipend of ¥2,000–¥3,000 for the students studying in specific areas of Japan.
The examination expense along with the entrance exam charges will be covered by the Japanese government.
Round-trip airfare is the coverage under the scholarship program.
The Japanse Universities will offer accommodation for the international student’s but this will be subjected to the availability and institutional policies.

Required Documents for MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2027

The candidates are required to prepare and submit the documents listed below through the structured guideline already provided.

Application Form: Completed application form with a recent passport-size photograph attached (1 original & 1 copy).
Transcripts (Educational): Complete set of educational documents, including transcripts and degrees (Official Stamp).
Recommendation Letter: These two letters are from a previous institute teacher and should be submitted (1 original & 1 copy).
Medical Fitness Certificate: This certificate should be submitted in the provided format under MEXT (1 original & 1 copy)
Direct Request Form: Need to submit if directly applying for MEXT and meeting the mentioned criteria above.
Current Enrollment Evidence: This is valid for the students who are currently studying
Language Proficiency Certificate: Need to submit English/Japanese as per availability.
