The Commonwealth Youth Award 2025 for Excellence in Development Work are organised by the Commonwealth Youth Programme, with the goal of recognising and honouring young people throughout the Commonwealth who are leading influential, long-term development initiatives in their local communities. The Khalili Foundation and the Commonwealth Foundation have partnered together this year to present additional funds and prizes to qualified applicants for the 2025 Awards.

Further, the main objectives of this international youth awards are to highlight the exceptional achievements made by youth in the advancement of a just, peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future. Also, this involves making progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda. In addition, Commonwealth enables young leaders to bring change in their communities, cultivate an atmosphere that supports and encourages investments in youth-led development initiatives. So, by sharing the success stories of the entrants, this international award competition hopes to inspire others and showcase the depth and breadth of talent, commitment and creativity. among young people across the Commonwealth. Similarly, this opportunity will honor young people in partnership with the Commonwealth Foundation. also, regional finalists have access to capacity building grants and these points are subject to good reporting and evaluation.

Additionally, the Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development recognize the work of young people who initiate projects from peacebuilding to poverty reduction. Also, these awards serve as a reminder to policymakers in government and other spheres of influence about the importance of youth development. In addition, other indicators encourage young people to participate in their communities and in this Commonwealth Youth Awards, there are many aspects of development activities, including science, human rights, education, arts and culture, environmental protection, technology, sports and others.

Financial Coverage of Commonwealth Youth Award

There will be four finals for the Commonwealth region, and the winners of each regional tournament will be selected as regional champions.
The Commonwealth Child of the Year 2025 will be awarded to the regional champion who will also win the Pan-Commonwealth Award.
Each of the 20 regional finalists will receive £1,000 cash, a trophy and a certificate. As well as a prize and trophy, the five local winners will receive £2,000 for a total of £3,000.
In addition to the prize and trophy, the Pan-Commonwealth winner will receive a further £2,000, for a total of £5,000 and the Khalili Foundation awards three Youth Peace Prizes to young people who contribute to development and peace.
The Commonwealth Foundation may award additional awards on merit.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who are Commonwealth citizens must undertake development work in a Commonwealth member country.
They have been involved in development for more than 12 months.
Applicants must be between 15 and 29 years of age on December 31, 2024.
Applicants may nominate themselves or accept a nomination from someone who can clearly demonstrate that their work.

Documents Required for Commonwealth Youth Award

Must have a letter of recommendation from an employer, youth organization, or state youth agency.
Submit your social media content which may include a project website, project Facebook/Instagram/Twitter page.
Also, evidence of the applicant’s work, which may include reports, articles, links to videos, case studies, videos, photographs, letters, must submit by the applicant.
Influence/convert information from colleagues, partners and stakeholders which may include reports, comments, links to videos, case studies, videos, images.
Submit all materials/documents in PEG or PDF files. Each file must be 5 MB in size. (You can upload up to 5 files with your login).
Up to five episodes can upload with your contribution.
