Eligiblity Criteria

  • The applicant is an international student.
  • Applicant must not be a Korean citizen.
  • For a master’s degree or Ph.D. Eligible programs: Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • For graduate studies: Bachelor’s degree or higher. The bachelor’s degree must be equivalent to a Korean bachelor’s degree (4-year bachelor’s degree).
  • Applicants to the master’s program must find and list at least three faculty members in the desired department who have similar research interests.
  • Normally, applicants for honors programs do not contact faculty before submitting their names. However, some programs require you to connect with professors first. See the “Awards and Programs” section (page 16) or the program’s website for specific details.
  • PhD candidates must nominate a faculty advisor from the group they are applying for and include their name in the application. It is recommended that you contact a faculty member before submitting your application.

  • If you are applying in Korean people regardless of place of birth and location. He must have completed his entire education outside of Korea or the applicant’s parents are not Korean citizens. If the candidate fulfills either of these two requirements, he/she is eligible.
  • You must provide an English proficiency certificate such as TOEFL iBT, IELTS, TOEIC, or TEPS unless:
  • You are a citizen of one of the following countries and have studied and obtained a degree equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher from an institution located in these countries:
  • Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada , Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States.
  • You are a citizen of one of the following countries and have studied for a bachelor’s degree or higher in which English was the language of instruction. In this case, you must provide a certificate proving the language of instruction, such as an English course certificate or a certificate of English proficiency from your institution.

List of Required Documents

  • A secondary copy of the national identity card.
  • Scanned copies of your parents’ national identity card.
  • A family registration certificate showing your relationship with your parents.
  • Recent Degrees/Transcripts.
  • If the degree is yet incomplete, you should provide a certificate of the official letter of expected graduation.
  • English proficiency report completed within two years (from September 24) IELTS (6.5), TOEFL (IBT 83/PBT 560), (BT 220), TOEIC (720), TEPS (599). If you are a citizen of certain countries and have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher, taught in English at a physical institution in those countries, you do not need to submit an EPT certificate:
  • Two recommendation letters from your teachers/Professors.
  • Also, in case of employed, get recommendation letters from your employer.
  • CV/Resume.
  • Honors, awards and professional recognition.
  • All documents must be in Korean or English.

How to apply for KAIST University Scholarship 2025?

  • Application for admission will be submitted online.
  • The applicant must still apply for admission and if they meet the scholarship requirements, the KAIST 20224 scholarship application will be considered automatically.
  • The applicant must pay the application fee to apply for admission.
  • The student should find the names of faculty members that match their research interests.
  • A physical copy of the electronic application must also be sent to the KAIST office address.
